An EOY Message to Our Agents from Clearcover CEO Kyle Nakatsuji

Written by Kyle Nakatsuji

As we look ahead to 2023, we don’t want to leave 2022 behind without acknowledging and appreciating all we’ve accomplished. Many of our achievements this year would not have been possible without the hard work of our agents.

We worked on several initiatives this year focused on making your lives easier while providing your customers with the best car insurance experience possible.

In January, we launched Car Care—the first offering of our new Clearcover Advantage™ benefit. We can now provide customers in AZ, IL, IN, OH, PA, and UT with discounted maintenance and repairs and other services that make it easier and more affordable to keep their vehicles running smoothly. Clearcover customers save an average of 25%* per maintenance visit!

This year, we also started working on a new series of product enhancements in select states aimed at providing you with even happier customers and increasing your retention rates. Through what we call Auto 3.0, we’ve introduced discounts in select states, fee-free strategies, and enhanced prior carrier rating capabilities—all of which also help rating accuracy. We are excited to expand to more states in 2023.

From January to May 2022, we increased our percentage of new claims handled in-house from 60 percent to 100 percent. By handling all new claims in-house through our internal claims team, we can now handle your customers' claims faster than a third-party administrator and provide overall better claims experiences.

We launched several initiatives this year to improve your experience with Clearcover, which included going live with PL Rating™ and TurboRater in additional states. Agents can now access Clearcover in multiple states when using a comparative rater platform. See this helpful Agent Resource Center article that overviews our current integrations and the comparative rater activation process.

When it comes to agent servicing capabilities, we made some serious headway this year. In select states, agents with the appropriate licenses can now service policies, including adding/removing vehicles, changing coverage amounts, and adding drivers. We also added a Support Staff role that allows non-licensed users from your team to access certain servicing capabilities in the Agent Portal, such as updating policyholder email addresses, processing payments, editing lienholder information, and viewing prior policy terms. We know this functionality is extremely important for agents and are actively working to expand these servicing capabilities to all Clearcover states soon.

We also updated our appetite guidelines and communicated them with you to help you better understand what customer is the best fit for Clearcover. See our updated appetite guide here.

In March, we ran a “Sell-to-Win” Contest for independent agents in the state of Utah. The top three winners were determined based on the highest number of qualifying Clearcover policies sold over the course of the month, and the agency that took first place won a 30-second produced commercial—paid for and promoted by Clearcover. You can check out the  commercial for the winner, Advance Insurance, here. We were impressed with the participation of our Utah partners and appreciated the relationships that were strengthened through the contest.

In September, we reintroduced you to ClearAI®, our artificial intelligence engine that helps you elevate your agency through next-gen lead qualification. In case you missed it, you can explore all things ClearAI® here.

We improved our agent page on our website to make it easier and more efficient for agents. The redesign was aimed at increasing transparency and more clearly communicating the resources we provide to help you perform at the highest level.

We were also excited about the return of in-person events this year. We attended a number of conventions, seminars, and conferences hosted by some of our largest partners, like the Goosehead National Convention, the Goosehead Regional Summit, Liberty Mutual, Utah Big I, Smart Choice conference, and the Liberty Mutual Liberty Leaders event. We felt lucky to meet and interact with so many of you and learn more about your agencies. We gained great insight into how to strengthen our partnerships and continue to provide you with value. And we had a blast at ITC—the biggest insurtech event in the world. It was an awesome opportunity to connect with a lot of our partners, tech entrepreneurs, investors, and other members of the insurance industry.

And finally, we hit a milestone that was a huge accomplishment for us: We were ranked #151 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing privately held companies (second in the “Insurance” category!). Every year, Inc. generates a list of the most successful private companies in the country based on company growth and development. It is widely considered the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. It highlights sustainable growth and development and our ranking would never have been possible without all of your support, loyalty, and hard work. We also came in at #50 on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a list that honors the most innovative, fastest-growing public and private companies from all over North America.

So, as 2022 comes to a close and we look ahead to 2023, we want to thank you for your partnership this year. We are inspired by the work you do and look forward to another year together. From the entire Clearcover team—Happy New Year!
