The Clearcover Rocket Turtles' First Kickball Season

As a company that prioritizes the mental health of all of our employees, Clearcover recognizes the importance of offering all team members ongoing opportunities to have fun outside of our day-to-day work. And Clearcover-ers who live near our Chicago headquarters know that the best way to have fun during the summer months is by maximizing their time spent outdoors. So what better way for Chicago-area team members to get outside, connect with each other, and have fun than by playing everyone's recess favorite - kickball!
Team Captain and Lead Analytics Engineer, Adam Sullivan, gathered a team of Chicago-based Clearcover-ers to form the first ever Rocket Turtles kickball team in Chicago Sport and Social Club's summer league. From May through July, the Rocket Turtles took to the field in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood every Monday night, even rallying for the occasional double header. After each game, the team gathered for well-earned beers at nearby Declan's Irish Pub.
Even outside of working hours, the Rocket Turtles embraced Clearcover's Leadership Principles as they competed each week. During one memorable game, the Rocket Turtles found themselves in an underdog position with less than 10 players as they faced a team that had nearly 50. Yet our team responded as Clearcover-ers always do when faced with adversity, and they competed fiercely, scoring a total of 16 runs during the game. Though they ultimately lost, the game was the highest-scoring in the league's entire season and the Rocket Turtle's most competitive.
At the conclusion of the season, the Rocket Turtles advanced to the league's semifinals, but the team's overall "wins" were not necessarily tied to their record. As player Kevin Sanchez, Analytics Engineering Senior Manager, remarked, "It was fun to have a weekly get together with coworkers, especially after the past two years with such limited human interaction with teammates. It was the first time a lot of the participants had met because we were so spread out across teams and functions at the company, which was really great!"
