My Clearcover Internship Inspired My Career Choice
When I began working at Clearcover the summer after my freshman year, I was a Business major at Indiana University. As an Operations Intern, I could easily see the connection between my studies and the work I was doing. The job was rewarding, and the people I worked with were wonderful. So, when I was lucky enough to be asked to stick around, I couldn’t have been more eager to accept. However, this meant that I would need to change positions and go where the company could use my help. My next position would be an intern for the Legal department.
At first, I was wary of the more complicated, technical aspects of the tasks I would be doing. Then, to my surprise, I really loved the work. Reading through contracts and reviewing legal documents, things that might have seemed tedious and mentally exhausting to most, became things I genuinely enjoyed. Over the course of my sophomore year and the following summer, I would continue to work in the Legal department at Clearcover. I noticed that something was changing, even if I couldn’t quite place it yet. Ever so gradually, the desire I had to work in business faded and I no longer had dreams of becoming a business executive. My career passions and dreams now all centered around the law.
By the time my junior year at Indiana rolled around, I was invested. I changed my major and the plan I had for my future shifted course to match the new passion I had discovered for the law. This was the right path. I was convinced.
Now, a year later and gearing up for the LSAT, law school applications, and my fourth and final year of undergraduate, I know I made the right choice. Looking back, I’m not sure where I would be if I hadn’t changed course. I know that I have Clearcover and the Legal department to thank for this fantastic opportunity that allowed me to find real passion in a place I would’ve least expected.
