Welcome to Clearcover: Senior Executive of Digital Business, Vanessa Jupe on Her First Week
If you've been keeping up with our blogs here, you know that Clearcover's people-first culture strives to make each employee feel welcome from their very first day. As a remote-first company, we've thoughtfully developed an onboarding process designed to ensure that all new employees immediately feel like they're part of our team whether they're based near our Chicago headquarters or spread across 27 states. We could go on and on about the benefits of being a Clearcover-er, but no greater testament to the success of our onboarding efforts exists than hearing a first-hand account from one of our new employees.
In November, Vanessa Jupe joined Clearcover as our new Senior Executive of Digital Business. During her twenty year career in internet technology, Vanessa has experienced the cultures of several large organizations and her welcome to Clearcover stood out as the ultimate example of seamless and engaging onboarding. After only a week at Clearcover, Vanessa posted an article on LinkedIn titled "Week 1 at Clearcover'' in which she praised her welcome to the company, our onboarding process and culture, and encouraged readers to apply for an open position.
In her article, Vanessa listed a few highlights from her first week as a Clearcover-er:
Swift and effective onboarding process - Vanessa reported that she was set up with her laptop and had access to all essential apps within the first two hours of her first day!
Documentation - Vanessa praised her onboarding documentation and noted, "[Clearcover] is very focused on having a written culture where ideas and decisions are documented for consideration and consumption."
Fun - Vanessa appreciated our virtual yoga offerings and shared that her team played Pictionary during their first meet and greet!
Teaching/Learning Culture - Vanessa was able to dive into her work immediately thanks to open communication with her new leader and employees on her team, documentation, and archived videos of past meetings.
Collaborative and fast - Vanessa extolled the swift and collaborative 2022 planning session she attended that included over 30 other employees from across multiple functions along with Clearcover's CEO, Kyle Nakatsuji.
Transparent and evolving - Vanessa observed the value that Clearcover places on "transparency and teamwork," citing the Slack channels where everyone at Clearcover has access to information on product performance and technical issues. Slack channels also exist for company-wide announcements, updates on mental health initiatives, and even a channel devoted to a Clearcover-wide discussion of our current TV obsessions.
Informed and intelligent - Vanessa noted, "Everyone seems well informed about what moves the business forward."
User-Centric - The fact that members of the Product and Development team and Kyle Nataksuji both emphasized the user persona when meeting Vanessa made a huge impression on her.
Vanessa's positive experiences during her first week as a Clearcover-er inspired her to post a LinkedIn article praising her onboarding experience and her characteristics of our culture. What will you experience during your first week at Clearcover? We invite you to apply for one of our open positions and find out!
